Her work in social upliftment, including women’s empowerment and welfare initiatives, has further solidified her legacy.

The Government of India approved a total of 139 Padma Awards this year, spanning various fields like arts, public affairs, medicine, literature, and more. Among the notable honorees is the late Sharda Sinha, a legendary folk singer from Bihar, who will receive the Padma Bhushan posthumously. Her soulful renditions celebrated the essence of Bihar’s cultural heritage and left an indelible mark on Indian music.

Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi has also been conferred the Padma Bhushan posthumously for his immense contributions to governance and public service.

This year’s Padma Awards not only honor excellence in diverse fields but also reflect a deep acknowledgment of those who have shaped the nation’s cultural, political, and social landscapes.
