A man named Akash Kanojia, a driver by profession, claims his life was ruined after being mistakenly detained by Mumbai Police in connection with Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing case. Kanojia was apprehended on January 18 at Durg railway station, Chhattisgarh, based on a tip-off but was released the next day after the real suspect, Shariful Islam Shehzad, was arrested in Thane.

Kanojia alleges that the mistake caused him to lose his job and face rejection from his prospective bride’s family, bringing disgrace to his own family. He insists the police overlooked key differences, such as his moustache, which was absent on the person seen in CCTV footage. Despite having prior cases against him, Kanojia believes this does not justify the treatment he received.

He now plans to stand outside Saif Ali Khan’s residence to seek a job, as he has lost everything due to the incident. Kanojia considers himself lucky that the real suspect was caught quickly; otherwise, he fears he might have been falsely accused of the crime.
